About Cellebrite's smartphone analysis
Cellebrite is a forensic solution headquartered in Israel and introduced in more than 150 countries worldwide, boasting the top market share globally.
The company's software is sold only to police and judicial agencies and is not available to the general public. It is also adopted by the Japanese National Police Agency and is used to analyze smartphones seized in special fraud cases (such as anonymous remittance, ore-ore fraud, and illegal part-time jobs).
I myself had the opportunity to review interrogation records of anonymous remittance crimes analyzed by Cellebrite. In those, not only LINE communications but also Signal communication histories were fully restored. Also, regarding Telegram, message exchanges such as "You have a message" were restored, and although it is unclear whether this was a secret chat, it should be considered that judicial agencies can analyze Telegram as well.
Shouldn't we be more aware that a society where the state can monitor individuals has become a reality?
